Welcome to the Wild Onion Tied House

Oak Park’s Newest Gastropub Experience.

So, What Exactly is A Tied House?

A Tied House is a satellite pub that is “tied” to a central brewery. Tying pubs to a central brewery is an old English tradition, and is also a colorful part of pre-prohibition Chicago.

The Wild Onion Tied House here in Oak Park is “tied” to our Wild Onion Brewery located in Lake Barrington, Illinois. Both are owned and operated by the Kainz family who have a strong history of beer brewing experience going back to Prohibition.

A True Gastropub

At its core, the “gastropub” concept embraces the fusion of classical cooking techniques with new taste and flavor combinations that ignite and challenge the palate.  We aim to honor this concept by constantly “pushing the envelope” with made-from-scratch dishes that incorporate our handcrafted ales and lagers.  We’ve also put a smoker at the heart of our kitchen, giving a unique and earthy hint to several of our protein and vegetable dishes.
